Sound of the Mountains.

As many of you know, I'm a big fan of Behind the Scenes (BTS), the organization that provides basic needs grants to entertainment technology professionals, or their immediate dependent family, who are seriously ill or injured. Counseling Grants are also available to entertainment technology professionals to assist with therapy or rehab, and the Mental Health Initiative provides tools and resources to support all entertainment industry workers and their families and promote mental health and wellness.

In 2023 the charity launched the Ghostlight Groups-- small groups of volunteers dedicated to raising money for BTS while participating in an activity that they love. This Friday June 27 the Rocky Mountain Ghostlight Riders set off on a motorcycle ride from the Arvada Center to Mishawaka and beyond; the goal will be to meet up with the folks that make music in the mountains and raise funds for Behind the Scenes.

One of the more unusual locations will be the Tank Center for Sonic Arts in Rangely, Colorado. This massive water tank was built in 1940 for the railroad; it was reclaimed by the Tank Center and now hosts a variety of concerts and recording sessions. The interior acoustics have to be heard to be believed.

Smaller, focused charities like BTS may not have the reach that larger charities have, but they do serve their communities more directly. Raising awareness and reaching out to entertainment professionals in smaller communities is integral to the mission of BTS. To that end, please consider supporting this effort with a donation to the Rocky Mountain Ghostlight Ride. Thanks!
